Branding FAQ

do you require a deposit payment?

I require a non-refundable 50% deposit up front to book your spot and the final 50% once all designs have been approved and before receiving your final handover files via Dropbox.

Are the branding packages refundable?

Projects are non-refundable unless you cancel 30 days prior to project start date and we can fill your spot with another client.

DO YOU PAINT OR ILLUSTRATE the ARTWORK YOURSELF? Or are they digital downloads?

I paint and illustrate all artwork by hand whether it is for a branding project or custom artwork. All illustrations and artwork are hand painted and illustrated by me. I never use digital downloads from any other artists or online platforms in my work unless clearly stated otherwise.

Do you offer any support once the project has been handed over?

I am available for any questions you may have after the handover phase. I can make small adjustments to any existing design files for you or if you would like to add-on any other collateral or branding material as your business grows and your business needs change. Extra design will be quoted for individually based on my hourly rate.

HOW MANY REVERTS / rounds of revisions ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR PACKAGES?

All packages include a standard amount of 3 reverts / rounds of revisions. Any additional changes can be made at Matilda's hourly rate.

when can you start? / What is your turnaround time?

I am normally booked out a month to two months in advanced for branding jobs. It is therefor important that you try to contact me well in advanced before planning on launching your new branding or new business. A full branding package takes (on average) 8 - 10 weeks to complete depending on the amount of work involved, complexity of the job and number of add-ons needed. Over time, I have worked out a tried and tested design process to ensure that I produce the best results possible for my clients, it is therefore important that enough time is given for optimal creative results.

CAN I EDIT THE FILES MYSELF ONCE FINAL FILES HAVE BEEN HANDED OVER?

Seeing as you are paying me for a professional service, I design using only the best,  professional, internationally recognised, Adobe design programs. All of my designs, including layouts of any documents, social media templates, etc, are done using Adobe software (mostly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) as they allow for the best design solutions and professional results. If you require open files to make edits yourself, there are a few options I could suggest:

1 - IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE ADOBE SOFTWARE:
It this case I am more than happy to hand you the open files at the handover stage and you can make updates and small tweaks yourself. I however do not encourage making big design changes as they often require the professional trained eye of a designer. I am more than happy to help with changes after our handover. Which brings be to me next point.

2 - I AM AVAILABLE FOR SUPPORT AFTER HANDOVER:
I am available to assist in any tweaks you want to make to current existing documents once the handover has been complete at a discounted hourly rate. These tweaks rarely take a full hour to complete. For complete redesign / new designs my design service is available to any past branding clients at my standard hourly rate.

3 - TAKING THE EDITING OF THE PDF IN YOUR OWN HANDS:
Adobe Acrobat Pro has a free 30 day trail and it’s very user friendly,  you can download it here.  This allows  you to tweak a pdf file yourself. It will give you as the client a lot of freedom to edit text, and even change images, without messing with the beautiful layout that your designer has made for you and without having to go through the cost of purchasing the expensive Adobe Design programs that you will most likely never use.

If you make changes to a pdf often, then the Acrobat would be a wonderfully, useful investment that will give your business an edge over it’s competitor. Your rates pdf, detailed quote with images or concept presentation will look the most professional and refined. People notice those things - and it will be a small investment to help propel your business forward.
